Sales Leadership Development Program

Our world-renowned Sales Leadership Program helps you hit the ground running

This 3-tier, merit-based sales program starts you out within a fast-paced team that works directly with customers in the field. Graduates from Sales LDP find success in positions all over the winery, both in corporate roles and field management positions.

When you are accepted into the Sales Leadership Development Program (Sales LDP), you will have the opportunity to build your foundation in Sales and Sales Management. This experience will accelerate your career growth and prepare you for a career in Sales, Fine Wine, Distributor Management, and beyond.

Phase I:
Distributor Sales Representative

In the Sales LDP, you will spend your first 18-24 months as a Sales Representative. You’ll receive extensive product and sales training that will help you manage 20-40 existing Gallo accounts. No cold calling necessary! Results and exemplary sales leadership skills will lead you to your next opportunity.

Phase II:
Distributor District Sales Manager

The District Sales Manager (DM) rotation lasts around 24 months. In this role, you will develop your leadership and strategic thinking skills by managing a team of 4-7 Sales Representatives. Finding the right motivational techniques and administrative tools to manage a team will be key to achieving success through your team.

Phase III:
Many different opportunities

Your third rotation is a promotion into one of the following positions:

Market Development Manager (MDM)
In this role, you will represent Gallo in the field. You will sell to accounts, work with Distributor Representatives, and train new Sales Representatives.

Distributor Area Sales Manager (AM)
In this role, you’ll manage a team of 2-4 District Managers. At this level of sales management, you are responsible for a greater amount of business and personnel.

This is a great opportunity to explore Customer Development, Luxury Wine & Spirits, Shopper Marketing, On-Premise Sales, and E-Commerce as well. The purpose of this phase is to combine your individual leadership skills from Phase I and your team leadership skills from Phase II to produce results at an organizational level.

Our Operations Management Development Program (OMDP) and Technical Management Development Program (TMDP) put you on the fast-track to leadership or subject specialization. You'll have opportunities to solve unique problems alongside other Engineers and Supply-Chain professionals while gaining expert insight and training.

Technical Management Development Program (TMDP)

Our TMDP rotational program is a great way to grow your career. This three-year program offers participants the opportunity to specialize in a subject or gain broad leadership-based experience. Rotations include:

  • A Leadership Rotation in operations, managing a team of operations professionals

  • A Technical Rotation in an engineering, R&D or continuous improvement role

  • A Sales Rotation where you will learn the portfolio and become an industry expert

Operations Management Development Program (OMDP)

The OMDP is a rotational leadership development program geared towards Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering majors. This program is designed to give you a well-rounded experience and put you on the fast-track to leadership with one of the most complex winery operations in the world. Participants will do three rotations, including:

  • A Harvest Team Leader Rotation managing a team through crush season

  • An Operations Team Leader rotation managing a team in bottling or supply chain

  • A Sales Rotation where you will learn the portfolio and become an industry expert
