Our vineyards

Located in the beautiful hills of west Paso Robles, our site-specific, award-winning wines produced here are anchored in time and estate. What once were fields of barley were meticulously developed by Ron Denner into the vineyards you see today.

Thanks to our people, Denner Vineyards has become one of the great wineries of California through careful vineyard management that includes a unique combination of dry-farming, organic practices, and non-interventionist winemaking. Our 110-acre state-of-the-art gravity flow gently moves our wine throughout its production lifecycle.

Our winemaking

The most important decisions we make in any year revolve around winemaking. To not irrigate even though it’s hotter than Hades, to not sort despite ripeness variation, or to not rack during aging even when there’s reduction. These decisions create wines with character — expressions true to vineyard, vintage, and the people that make them. But most importantly, these decisions create wines that are delicious, complex, and singular.

In the cellar, Denner Vineyards takes cues from the old world, working with a percentage of whole-cluster Rhone blends, relying on native yeasts for fermentation, and bottling wines unfined and unfiltered. All of this is to translate, as faithfully as possible, the terroir of Denner Vineyard’s patchwork of calcareous clay vineyards, soaring to more than 1,000 feet above sea level.

From grape to glass, we're mindful of our responsibility to our environment. In 2008 we installed a 140,000 DC watt ground-mounted solar system that meets electrical energy needs for our winery and most of the Comus Club Center, greatly reducing our carbon footprint. We also expanded our wetlands to include a system for filtering water used in production that’s distributed throughout the vineyard. We’re committed to caring not only for the land on our estate, but our community as a whole.
