Engineering

Packaging Systems Engineering

6 Months – January or June Start Dates – CA - Modesto, Livingston, Fresno

You’ll work with teams from Operations, Winemaking and Senior engineers as you help conduct practical, facility-based studies to design, optimize and conceptualize new and existing processes. Much of your work will be undertaken during the peak of the harvest season and involves a variety of winemaking processes, including the development and scale-up of new technologies for the winery.



Engineering Internship Program

6 Months – January or June Start Dates – CA - Modesto, Livingston, Fresno, Napa, Sonoma

Engineering interns spend six months learning what it’s like to produce and distribute wine and spirits, and how important engineering is to the success of the company. You’ll work with experienced engineers, assisting with equipment selection, equipment start-up, equipment / package qualification, equipment and material interface, and developing and testing potential solutions for our winery bottling production lines. You’ll also learn continuous improvement techniques by implementing Lean Six Sigma processes. Many Interns have the opportunity to lead or manage a small scale project.


Interns might work in one or several groups within the engineering department, including:

Operations, Supply Chain & Quality

Supply Chain Internship Program

3-6 Months – Summer Start Dates - Modesto

The Supply Chain Department is the heart of the business that provides a linkage between the Business Unit and Operations, planning for production, bottling and material needs. The Supply Chain Department is accountable for on-time delivery, inventory, and schedule stability. As an intern, you might work in a variety of areas within Supply Chain Management, including:


  • Supply Chain Planning – you’ll work to develop tools and processes to ensure on time delivery, manage inventory levels and produce schedule stability

  • Warehouse Operations - you’ll learn world-class skills in warehouse management; working to develop tools and processes to streamline and track finished goods movement in and out of the warehouse

  • Integrative Business Solutions – our Center of Excellence for Operations, Supply Chain & Quality, working in this group will give you the opportunity to help to define, develop and implement long-term, strategic business capability maps that provide transparency to the organizational transformation required to achieve business objectives

  • Global Customer Service - This group provides a vital linkage between the Winery’s Supply Chain department and our Customers and Winery Sales departments. In this internship, you’ll help make certain that inventory requirements are met while delivering complete support that drives customer satisfaction while reducing organizational costs and increasing logistic efficiencies

  • New Product Development –This group leads cross-functional project teams to get new products to market. As in intern, you’ll work on developing tools and processes to continue improving time-to-market for these new products



Corporate Quality Internship

3 - 6 Months - Summer Start Dates - Modesto

The Quality department at Gallo maintains quality from grape to glass. You’ll be exposed to quality operations in our analytical and microbiology labs, supplier and co-manufacturing quality control, and food safety measures in the entire production operation. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a production environment.



Finance & Accounting

Corporate Finance & Accounting Internship

3-6 Months – Year Round

Members of the Accounting teams challenge the status quo by bringing new perspectives and ideas to the organization. You’ll use your ability to understand complex business issues to creatively develop appropriate solutions for improvement. Information Technology

Programmer Summer Intern

3 Months – Summer Start Date – Modesto

As a programmer, you’ll use your computer science skills to develop code for web and mobile applications. You might also find yourself writing technical documentation or developing system diagrams and workflows.



Business Systems Analyst Summer Intern

As a Business Systems Analyst, you’ll use your project management skills to gather project requirements from cross-functional partners for new or updated winery systems. You might also find yourself writing technical documentation or developing system diagrams and workflows.

Winestyle & Product Guidance Sensory Science Internship

6 Months – Summer Start Date – Modesto

Winestyle & Product Guidance is a department within C&PI that specializes in generating insights that lead to strategic product development of new wines and wine-based beverages. As an intern in this group, you’ll work closely with department sensory scientists to provide project and program support including study design, data interpretation, and reporting. Current projects include product development of new brands and line extensions, varietal-specific category reviews, competitor assessments, winestyle quality monitoring, and shelf life studies



Business Systems Solutions Internship

3-6 Months – Summer Start Date – Modesto

Information Intelligence is a department in C&PI that specializes in collecting, maintaining and analyzing large amounts of data. As an intern in this group, you’ll use your computer science skills to assist in research and fact-finding to administer information systems that support our information intelligence operations. You might also find yourself writing technical documentation or developing system diagrams and workflows.



Statistician Internship

3-6 Months – Summer Start Date – Modesto

The Information Intelligence Department is a collection of visionary leaders who drive business decisions and develop best in class brands and products using data-driven technical, consumer and customer insights. As an intern in this group, you’ll work closely with department statisticians to provide analytical support including study design, data analysis, and reporting. Current projects include media effectiveness, segmentation, predictive modeling, trends, optimizing effectiveness of demo and tasting programs, analysis of sales and consumer trends, data visualization, and dashboard development.



Digital Marketing & Creative

Digital Marketing Internship

3-6 Months – Year Round

The Digital Marketing team produces impactful and relevant digital marketing strategies that align with brand marketing goals to support our brands. You’ll work with a digital marketing strategist to research digital trends and tactics, create content and manage communities. You’ll also utilize your analysis skills to conduct research, study competitive analysis and present findings.



Creative Services Internship

3-6 Months – Year Round

The Gallo Creative Agency produces award-winning brand identities and promotions to help create the essence of Gallo’s brands. Working closely with Gallo’s partners in marketing and by carefully understanding the needs of Gallo’s customers, the Gallo Creative Agency gives each one of the winery’s many products a powerful voice in the marketplace. As an intern, you’ll contribute your inspiring visual point of view to projects, helping to develop and execute creative concepts for packaging, point of sale and other supporting elements.



Sales

Gallo Sales Internship Program

6 Weeks – Summer Start Date – Various Locations

This program offers talented individuals the opportunity to engage in various parts of the business, interact with management, develop innovative solutions to real business challenges, and cultivate the next generation leaders. The program will give you the opportunity to preview commercial roles as a field rep and field marketing manager while learning Spirits, Fine Wine, Direct to Consumer and Shopper Marketing.



Science & Research

Analytical Services Lab Internship (Quality)

6 Months – Summer Start Date - Modesto

The Quality department at Gallo maintains quality from grape to glass. You’ll be exposed to quality operations in our analytical and microbiology labs, supplier and co-manufacturing quality control, and food safety measures in the entire production operation. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a production environment. You’ll perform chemical analyses to characterize grapes, fermentation and wines using state of the art instrumentation.



Chemistry Internship

6 Months – Summer Start Date – Modesto, Livingston, Madera, or Sonoma - CA

Our chemistry interns participate in team projects that contribute to the improvement of our Winery’s commercial processes and wine quality. You’ll assist in projects that help Gallo evaluate the chemical characteristics of grapes throughout their maturation process, develop rapid chemical methods to measure and monitor positive grape attributes and defects, and correlate wine Chemical characterizations with Sensory attributes to model wine aging and to determine product shelf life.



Enology Research Internship

6 Months – Summer Start Date - Modesto

You’ll assist in research focused on improving the winemaking process, assisting with experiments to evaluate the impact of different winemaking practices and procedures on wine quality in the laboratory and Research Winery. You’ll work in both laboratory and production environments, with significant time invested at the Gallo production facilities during harvest to benchmark production winemaking practices.



Research Winery Internship

6 Months – Summer Start Date - Modesto

Our Research Winery Interns assist in all aspects of wine production research winemaking operations from grape to bottle. You will work in the Modesto-based Research Winery, a state-of-the-art research scale winery. This is a fast paced and challenging internship for students. Highest consideration will be given to candidates with previous experience and interest in winemaking or food processing.



Pilot Winery Internship

6 Months – Summer Start Date - Modesto

Our Pilot Winery Interns assist in all aspects of wine production research that focus on daily winemaking operations. You will work in the Livingston-based Pilot Winery, a pilot scale state-of-the-art winery. This is a fast paced and challenging internship for students.



Fermentation and Biological Systems Internship Program

6 Months – Summer Start Date - Modesto

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a production setting during harvest to assist in research focused on the characterization of yeast and bacteria used in the winemaking process and their impact on wine aroma and flavor. You’ll take on a wide range of research-related activities, including conducting and monitoring laboratory-scale fermentations, preparing buffers and microbiological media, microbiological plating and culturing yeast and bacteria, using molecular biological techniques to identify and characterize yeast and bacteria (PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.) and assisting in analysis of experimental data.



Harvest Lab Internship

6 Months – Summer Start Date - Modesto

You’ll work with our production lab and winemaking staff to execute established analysis (pH, TA, free SO2, total SO2, RS, VA, and ML) in our state-of-the-art analytical laboratory. Expect to spend time sampling tanks and barrels to aid in monitoring both red and white fermentations.

Experience Marketing Internship

3 Months - Summer

Working with the Experience Marketing team on California’s coast (North and Central), you’ll learn Direct-to-Consumer, Trade Hospitality, Wine Club and E-Commerce business in a fast-paced winery hospitality environment. You’ll rotate through multiple departments to gain an in-depth understanding of the Winery’s guest experience and hospitality models



Winegrowing, Agriculture & Viticulture

Grower Relations Internship

3-6 Months – Summer Start Dates- Fresno, Lodi, San Luis Obisbo, Sonoma, Napa - CA

Gallo Grower Relations is involved in 14 vineyards in Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera and Fresno Counties, encompassing thousands of acres of planted vines. Grower Relations strives to produce the highest quality wine grapes using technologically advanced production techniques while maintaining important business relationships. You will support the many different areas of our Grower Relations team including GIS/map building and analysis, grower outreach, crop estimation, pest and disease scouting, harvest scheduling and delivery coordination.



Winemaking and Spiritsmaking Internships

6 Months – Summer Start Dates- Modesto, Fresno, Napa, Sonoma, San Miguel – CA & Sunnyside, WA

Here’s your opportunity to learn from numerous winemakers & spiritsmakers producing a variety of table wines, sparkling wines, flavored wines and spirits in commercial production today. Depending on your experience, you’ll manage a portion of an ongoing project (or projects). You might also find yourself assisting with sampling and monitoring, blending and inventory control.



Viticulture Research Internship

6-9 Months – Summer Start Dates- Modesto or Healdsburg - CA

Our Viticulture Research Interns participate in team projects that contribute to the improvement of the Winery’s grape growing practices and wine quality. You will work with other research groups such as Chemistry, Enology, Research Winemaking, Sensory Science and Statistics and assist in research projects focused on the impact of grape cultural practices, such as trellising systems, crop load, yield forecasting, irrigation levels, pruning methods and harvest timing on fruit and wine quality
